Fire Inspection Program: The most effective manner in which to fight fires is to prevent them from starting. Fire Inspectors can, at the request of the residential homeowner, do a “Courtesy Inspection.” During this inspection inspectors look for fire hazards, check for smoke detectors, and make recommendations for safety measures. Fire Inspectors also perform mandatory inspections on all businesses located in the Township.

Reflective Address Signs: The Department offers free green reflective address signs to all township residents. These reflective signs help emergency services personnel to find your home in a fast and efficient manner and are installed by our personnel.

Smoke Detectors, Carbon Monoxide Detectors & Battery Replacement Program: The Department will provide and install “free” smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and batteries to all Washington Township residents upon request.

Senior Citizen Checks: Residents, age 65 or older, or with severe health conditions can setup a rotational schedule to have EMS personnel come to their homes to perform a “Senior Check.” During this visit, personnel will take your blood pressure and review your general health for the day.

Home Safety Checks: The leading cause of injury related to death in persons over age 65 is a fall in the home. More than 50% of these falls are preventable. Washington Twp. Fire & Rescue wants to keep our citizens safe and living independently. To achieve our goal, we will perform a free safety check of your home upon request to help identify hazards.

Burn Permit Program: All residents are required to obtain an “Open Burn Permit” from the Fire Department prior to burning your debris. This program has caused a significant reduction in wildland, field, and trash fires

Residents can call (513) 553-6702 and ask for the Shift Supervisor in regards to accessing any of these programs.

Clermont County, Ohio

Founded in 1801, Washington Township encompasses 37.56 square miles located in the southern central part of Clermont County, Ohio. Bordered by the beautiful Ohio River, Washington Township has many scenic views and outdoor activities to pursue. Situated just 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, Washington’s 2,278 residents enjoy the benefits of country living, with all the benefits of “the big city”. Washington Township residents can choose from a variety of family oriented recreational activities; from boating on the Ohio River, to hiking and fishing at the Washington Township Park. WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP
ANNUAL AUTUMN BASH FESTIVAL

The Washington Township Annual “Autumn Bash” Festival is dedicated to providing a family oriented festival that promotes community involvement and the celebration of life.
This two day festival event is “jammed packed” with family fun activities to include: a midway, live music, fireworks, haunted trail, bingo, games, karaoke, corn hole tournament, and great food.

During the festival, we offer a variety of educational and safety programs, presented by both local and county departments. By doing so, we can ensure that we continue to provide the residents of Washington Township and the surrounding communities with the services they need to improve their quality of life. Such programs as D.A.R.E., Head Start, Clermont County MRDD, and Washington Township Fire & Rescue Prevention Programs, all provide services at the festival.

Many local charity groups, youth athletic organizations, and churches utilize the festival as their primary source of fundraising to further support the needs of the community. Local artisans and musicians and hired as entertainment.

This festival is always held on the Friday and Saturday prior to Columbus Day in October.

Parks & Recreation

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP PARK
2238 S.R. 756, MOSCOW, OH 45153

Some have called it the best kept secret in Clermont County...what are we talking about...the Washington Township Park. Located at 2238 S.R. 756, this property, formerly owned by the Ohio Operating Engineers, was purchased by the Washington Township Trustees in 1991 for $191,000, or $1,000 per acre (property consists of 191 acres).

The park facility is opened daily from dawn til’ dusk; and, all amenities are free to the general public, with the exception of fishing in the lake. The fishing lake is equipped with a handicapped accessible dock. Individuals from the age of 16 - 64 can fish at the lake, as long as they purchase a Township Fishing Permit. Permits are as little as $5 per day and go up to $30 for a yearly family pass. Senior citizens 65 years of age or older....fish free at all times! The lake is stocked 2 to 3 times per year. Stock includes: walleye, catfish, yellow perch, black crappie, bass, bluegill, & more. Permit money is used exclusively for the purchasing of stock.

If fishing’s not your pleasure, perhaps a leisurely stroll around the lake is more inviting. Encircling the lake is a paved walking/biking track. To avoid accidents walkers/runners are asked to walk counter clockwise & bikers clockwise. Three and a-half times around the lake from your starting point is equal to 1 mile. For the more adventurous, there are some walking trails through the wooded areas. These paths are surfaced with wood chips and are not for the faint of heart.

The playground has slides, swings, tetherball, & various climbing apparatus. There is also a full size basketball court. The park also offers three covered picnic shelters. The largest shelter can fit up to 100 people & the smaller shelters accommodate up to 30. Although these shelters are free to the public, they can be reserved for a minimal fee. Come see the best kept secret in the county!
